What is
Muromachi era?:
Introduction of new studies about
Muromachi era. "Muromachi era" is in 14-16th century, governed by
Muromachi Shogunate(in other words :"Ashikaga
period").
The Chinese
Impact:
Review of diplomatic relations between Japan and China(Ming
dynasty) in later 14th century. Particularly this page focuses on a name
"NIPPON-KOKU-OH"(not equal "the king of Japan"). This name was given by
the emperor of China. The first person given this name was Prince
Kaneyoshi who was a son of Go-daigo. But the Shogun Ashikaga
Yoshimitsu also wanted this name, because he loved Chinese culture and only
this title holder could trade with China in this period. However this name was
given only to one person. Hence they contended each other for this
name.
Reading "Mansai-jugo-nikki",a
diary witten in 15th century:
Mansai(1378-1435) is a Buddhism
priest lived in Sanpou-in, Daigoji temple located in Kyoto now. He
was a very important person for the Muromachi Shogunate. His diary was written
many descriptions about political arrangements of the Shogunate. Reading this
book, we may be able to understand political history in this
era.
